NEW HAVEN >> Shelton Police have arrested a New Haven man on drug charges in connection with a recent overdose.
Corey Senior, 26, was charged with two counts of illegal possession of heroin, illegal possession with intent to sell and illegal possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school zone, police said.
A 34-year-old Shelton woman was found dead Thursday in her home from an apparent heroin overdose, police said. Shelton detectives investigated and learned that the woman recently bought heroin from a man, later believed to be Senior.
Police made contact with the suspected drug dealer on Friday, and he agreed to meet under the guise of selling heroin, according to police.
Officers set up surveillance downtown and took Senior, who was in possession of narcotics, into custody, according to a release. Senior removed a large amount of crack cocaine and heroin from his buttock region at the time of his arrest, police said.
The investigation into the suspected heroin overdose is ongoing with other arrests expected, police said.
Senior is currently being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
